Glaucus atlanticus

The Glaucus atlanticus is a living thing because...


a) Grows and Develops:


Glaucus Atlanticus can grow up to about 30mm-80mm and weight between 3-100grams. They live month and a year, and they eat deadly venomous animals and keep the poison in their skin (can bite people).

b) Reproduce:


Glaucus Atlanticus has both male and female reproductive organs, mate with their right sides facing, after mating both Glaucus atlanticus produce the eggs strings. They lay their eggs on driftwood(objects) of even the skeletons of their victims(aniamls), Glaucus Atlanticus cares their babies until they have their own air sacs. When they are out of water, Glaucus.A. tent to roll into little balls and open up again onece they are placed back into water, some Glaucus.A. don't care their young. They produced 4-6 egg strings per hour with 36-96 eggs per string and a total of 3300-8900 eggs per day.


c) Responds environment:

They survive by their skin colours it has silvery grey, dark blue stripes on head. Glaucus.A. have similar colour as ocean on bottom so birds can't see that will and they flip their body to hide from the fish (silvery grey are the back).

East and South coast of South Africa, European waters, the eastcoast of Australia and Mozambique.
